New York Expands Assistance for Income-Eligible Medicare Beneficiaries in 2023

"We have an obligation to help older adults and individuals with disabilities to age within their community with dignity," Governor Hochul

The Medicare Savings Program (MSP) will see a significant boost in 2023.

The program helps older adults and people with disabilities who are living on limited incomes pay their Medicare Part B premiums and automatically enroll them in “Extra Help,” the federal prescription drug subsidy program.

Starting in January, the new MSP monthly income eligibility limits will increase to an estimated $2,107 for an individual and $2,839 for a couple

MSP has no resource limits in place as is the case with Medicaid, making it a vital lifeline for many people who might otherwise struggle to pay their Medicare costs.

Now is a good time to explore MSP for next year, especially if you were over the limit in the past.
